Take Me the Way I Am

Music: Ingrid Michaelson

Vidder Notes

Apparently this song was recently featured on an Old Navy commercial, something I wasn't aware of until I went in search of the lyrics. All I know is my little mountain radio station has been playing the bejesus out of this for months now, and I fell in love with it. I recently told a friend I was working on a new "cupcake" vid. That's what this feels like to me. It's sweet and small and light. I wanted to match this happy little tune with a pairing that could go toe to toe in the charm department. So I went with the boys from Bay City, who very much take each other as they are--something I think we could all do a lot more of. Look for the dancing Rogaine box. God knows I tried to make it stay on its shelf, but after eight hours spent working on a single clip, I gave up. I'm trying to convince myself it was moving to the music. See if that rationalization works for you. Beta on this vid was skillfully rendered by the one and only PRZed.

Take Me the Way I Am

If you were falling
Then I would catch you

You need a light
I'd find a match

Cause I love the way you say good morning
And you take me the way I am

If you are chilly
Here take my sweater

Your head is aching
I'll make it better

Cause I love the way you call me baby
And you take me the way I am

I'd buy you Rogaine
When you start to losing all your hair

Sew on patches
To all you tear

Cause I love you more than I could ever promise
And you take me the way I am mmm

You take me the way I am
You take me the way I am
